A Tribute to our Founder, Lorne D. Feldman, MD.  1954 - 2003

 

Wade Y. Nishimoto, MD. is a board certified Medical Oncologist, and also specializes in Hematology. He has been in private practice at CHOMG for the past 12 years.  After completing undergraduate studies (B.S. Microbiology/Immunology) at the University of Washington in Seattle, Dr. Nishimoto finished his Internship, Residency, and Fellowship in Oncology and Hematology at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center.  He joined CHOMG shortly thereafter, and practices mainly out of the Torrance office.  Originally from sunny Hawaii, Dr. Nishimoto transplanted to So. California in 1984, and brings his own version of the Aloha spirit to the practice of oncology.  He is a fitness enthusiast and enjoys tennis and travel when he has the time!

Allan O. Orenstein, MD. is a board certified Medical Oncologist with 25 years experience both in private practice and as a clinical faculty member at UCLA.  He attended Washington University in St Louis for his undergraduate studies; the University of Rochester School of Medicine and UCLA Center for the Health Sciences for internship, residency, and fellowship.  He is the Director of Oncology at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital.  Dr Orenstein has special interests in Breast Cancer and in the disparity of oncologic care in the city's diverse population.  Very much the family man, nothing gives him more pleasure than special dinners surrounded by friends and family....and something chocolate for dessert!

Alex J. Makalinao, MD. is a board-certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist who has over 7 years of experience in the field of medicine.  Dr. Makalinao practices in both the Los Angeles and South Bay area clinics.  He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York and fellowship in Oncology and Hematology at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center.  Dr. Makalinao continues his work at UCI as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Hematology/Oncology.  He is also a member of several professional organizations including American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Asian Physician Association.  Although highly qualified and experienced in Hematology/Oncology, Dr. Makalinao promotes the vision of traditional and complementary medicine working in harmony in the cancer care setting.  In his spare time, Dr. Makalinao enjoys composing music, and song-writing.

Frank K. Mori, MD. is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.  Dr. Mori practices in both the Los Angeles and South Bay area clinics.  After completing undergraduate studies (B.S. Electrical Engineering) at the University of California, Los Angeles he attended the University of California, Davis School of Medicine.  He completed his Fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.  In his spare time, he enjoys basketball and participates in a community orchestra.

Jenny Ru, MD. started her medical career in China where she studied, practiced and taught medicine at Henan Medical University.  Upon moving to California, Dr. Ru completed her residency and training in Internal Medicine at UCLA VA Hospital in West Los Angeles.  She received her three-year fellowship training in hematology and oncology at USC/Norris Cancer Center.  Dr. Ru is highly trained in treating hematology and oncology diseases.  She was awarded the Most Outstanding Fellow in Hematology for the year 2004, for her patient care by the faculty at USC/Norris Cancer Center.  Dr. Ru is a very warm, compassionate physician who truly cares about her patients.

In her free time, Dr. Ru enjoys reading literature from around the world and spending time with her husband and two young children.  As a family they love exploring the endless aspects of Southern California living.

Lorene Cangiano, RN., PA-C.  co-founder, and architect of B.I.O.S. is also the Administrator of CHOMG. Raised in a medical family, Lorene practiced as a critical care RN and as a primary care provider in Internal Medicine.  A graduate of U.C. Davis and Cal. State, Northridge, Lorene majored in Biological Science and Education. She is presently a graduate student in the masters program in Theology at Loyola Marymount University.  Her unique personal story has led her on a journey of self-discovery and healing that culminated with the birth and development of BIOS. It is Lorene's dedication to the vision of traditional and complementary medicine working in harmony in the cancer care setting, that has enabled BIOS to become a reality.

Jill Dickson, RN. is the Assistant Administrator and Director of Nursing for CHOMG, and is on the Board of Directors at B.I.O.S. Jill has over 18 years of nursing practice in the United States and Great Britain, including disciplines such as Orthopedics, Med-Surg, and Emergency Room.  

Jill is an experienced Oncology Nurse, and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society. Additionally, her experience as a Research Nurse has allowed her to gain a unique insight into the complexities of Clinical Trials in the cancer setting.  Jill also holds the unique role as CHOMG & BIOS's CancerGuide at the Los Angeles Office.

Jill is the Webmaster of the CHOMG website www.chomg.com. She is currently studying for Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology at Cal State University, Northridge, and enjoys playing piano and practicing meditation in her spare time.

Jill is a Student of Healing Touch. In addition, she utilizes her experiences from her multi-faceted nursing career, and works in harmony with other members of the CHOMG & BIOS teams to provide individualized Healing Touch Treatments.

Jessica Hernandez, BA., CMT. is the B.I.O.S Program Director as well as the Front Office Supervisor for CHOMG. Jessica has been with CHOMG for 10 years. She graduated from University of Riverside, California with a degree in history. Jessica is especially skilled at providing optimum care to all patients with appointments and problems.

She studied at South Bay Massage College where she obtained her Certified Massage Therapist, and Licensed Medical Technician qualifications. Jessica specializes in Swedish massage, Deep tissue therapy, Physiology, Aromatherapy and Reflexology.

Jessica is here to promote massage as one of the healing arts. Her focus is to involve hands on care and to work closely with patients to achieve an enjoyable and relaxing experience. She helps in the reduction of the effects of stress, tired and aching muscles, decreases chronic pain, and improves nerve functioning. With her great energy she is able to increase flexibility and range of motion while at the same time strengthening the immune system.

Jessica is works in harmony with other members of the CHOMG & BIOS teams to provide individualized Massage Therapy.

Viveca Tokatlian is the Billing Manager for CHOMG.  She has over 20 years experience in the medical field including hospital management, front/back office and nine years experience in medical billing.  Her interests include volunteering at her son's school and traveling.

Brandon Cangiano is our IT Tech, and wizard of all things mechanical!  Brandon completed his BS in Aeronautical Engineering at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, in Daytona Beach, Florida.  He is also trained in Wilderness Search and Rescue, and Advanced EMT trained.  Brandon has extensive experience in computer network systems, computer programming, and engineering. 


Jody Onorato, with over 20 years experience in the oncology office setting, joined CHOMG in February 2003. She finds it extremely gratifying to work in a setting that not only provides superb medical care to its patients, but assists them as well, sort through the myriad of insurance choices and coverage issues facing all of us today.
Jody is a native Angeleno and received her BA from CSUN. Her interests include travel, gardening, pottery and keeping up with L.A.'s museum and gallery exhibits.
